Sprint Training Program

There are certain characteristics of a sprinter that are necessary to help them to be the best, i.e. The power-to-weight ratio, low body fat levels, and some muscle mass are important.

There are so many aspects to discuss when it comes to putting together a good sprint training program. Sprint training involves weightlifting, speed training, speed endurance training and bounding drills.

However, as a sprinter the core of your sprint training program should be speed training sessions. No matter how powerful you are or how long you could last in the race, you might never be number one without pure speed. Since speed is what attracted you to this sport why not perfect it every chance you get.

You need to have the type of speed that comes with very little effort; run fast and make it look easy is the goal. On a regular basis maximum speed needs to be developed. You need to have endurance at a top level in order to be able to finish the race.

During the beginning of your sprint training program, be sure to keep in mind that your own goal is to progress. You can’t just up and jump right into a sprint training program head-on with tough workouts that your own body might not handle. Doing that would just result in disaster and lots of injuries down the road.

Sprint training is one of the best ways to improve physical conditioning. It is fast, easy, intense, and takes less time that other cardio activities. It has also been proven to result to benefits that cannot be found from other workouts. One of the reasons is it is much harder for the body to return to its state before the workout, so much more calories are used up.
